CRITICAL THINKING:
1. Henry needs to be informed about the basics of a Holter monitor, because he will be wearing one for the first time and is unaware of what it is. He’s afraid it will intrude on his busy, daily routine and says that he’s already had an ECG. What should you tell him?
2. Sylvia, a 58-year-old nonsmoker, comes into the office complaining of shortness of breath and is informed that she will have to undergo a pulmonary function test (PFT). What is a PFT, and what is the most common test?
3. Dolores is a 78-year-old who has been prescribed home oxygen therapy to treat her COPD. What guidelines can you give her to ensure she is using the oxygen in safe environment?
1)Holter monitor ise a amall .wearable and portable device to monitor the electrical activity of the cardio vascular system. The holter monitor records electrical records from the heart thruogh the electrodes attached to the chest. These electrodes are connected to the small mechine tha attached to the bodywith the help of betls. This will monitor for 24 to 72 hours . During these period you can be work ,sleep, play and daily activities. This monitor can carry with you and it will not disturb the daliy rutines. This device will not hurt your body.
2 ) Pulmonary function test is a non invasive procedure to mesure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow ,and gas exchange. With the help of PFT can diagnose and decide the treatment very fast.In PFT need to sit infront of the machine and will mesure the amount of the air while breath in and out with the help of spirometry.
ABG, oxygen saturation monitoring, chest xray and routine blood investigations are more important for the patient
