How is marriage and family therapy different from group therapy ethical challenges?
Ethics in marriage and family therapy :-
1. Confidentiality - It is one of the main ethical issue that has to be taken care of . The client trusts the therapist and shares all his or her information with them . Therefore it is very important to maintain the informationprivate and make sure it does’nt get out of the counselling room.
2. Competency to practice - Generally people practice without required skills , knowledge and training . It is very important to deal with couples and family with adequate set of skills and training.
3. Family and couple counselling should always be for the benefit of both the partners or all the family members . Individual counselling can not be practiced in this case since the ultimate goal is to bring harmony in the overall relationship with each other.
4. Do not keep secrets between partners.
5. Maintain a healthy counsellor counslee relationship with the clients . No other telationship with them is required.
Ethics in group counselling
1. Maintain dignity and uniqueness of each patient
2. Treating each and every patient equally thta means without discriminating .
3. Confidentiality of information is necessary
4. Sexual intimacy with clients is prohibited
