A) Antacid are inorganic bases and they provides OH-(hydroxyl) ions in aqueous medium that neutralizes H+ ion by forming H2O water molecule.
B) Aluminium hydroxide [Al(OH)3] and Magnesium hydroxide [Mg(OH)2] are two important base that we may find listed on the labels of antacids. Sodium bi-carbonate is anathor antacid used in day to day life. Calcium carbonate (CaCO3), Magnesium carbonate (MgCO3) are also the examples of antacids.
C) Antacids contains inorganic bases which ionizes to give OH- ions which neutralizes H+ ions ionized by acid HCl in stomach. The balanced neutralization reactions are as follows,
Al(OH)3(s) + 3HCl(aq.) ------- > AlCl3(aq.) + 3H2O (l)
Mg(OH)2(s) + 2HCl(aq.) --------> MgCl2(aq.) + 2H2O(l)
NaHCO3(aq.) + HCl(aq.) --------- > NaCl(aq.) + H2O (l) + CO2(g)
