Expert Solution

One of Freud's quote on love is " one is crazy in love", Freud explained that when a boy or girl is in love he or she goes crazy. He explained it in the context of Oedipus and Electra complex. He explained it in his psychosexual stages of development. He explained that when a boy aged 3 and 6 is in phallic stage, he developed Oedipus complex. In Oedipus complex the boy has unconscious crazy attachment towards his mother. The boy feels envy and jealousy towards his father. In this stage the boy feels intense attachment towards his mother. This seems very crazy that the boy goes crazy in love.

Freud used a term Electra complex to describe a girl's unconscious intense desire towards her father, she feels attachment towards her father and feels envy and jealousy towards her mother.

Freud described about crazy love of boy and girl in phallic stage in his psychosexual stages of development. He described that there are five psychosexual stages of development.
