Edward Murrow was an American journalist who had set the standards of media at the time. Due to the profound nature of work, he continues to inspire the newspersons and approach towards journalism today. His calm and courageous reporting captured our nation's and the world's attention during the German Blitz of Great Britain in 1940 and 1941. He specifically spoke against fear. The emotion of fear was mentioned in his excerpts mentioning that it is actually us who are responsible for stepping back upon the intimidation of others, which must not be the case. He also produced several other documentaries which covered social evils and spoke against them in the most determined manner. One of them was Harvest of Shame, which contained the many hardships that plague migrant farm workers had suffered. Aired on Thanksgiving day, Murrow's documentary shocked the country, and brought a call for legislation to protect the workers whose labour helps to fill supermarket shelves. The extent of impact it had on officials, authorities and the general public was beyond all bounds. The profound impact he had on the world of journalism thus continues its legacy today as well in the form of providing inspiration to the youth who want to follow the same path in their career as well as life goals.
