Solutions

Expert Solution

Yes, I think that the US has moral responsibility to spread democracy throughout the world because democratic government is considered to be better as compared to non- democratic governments.

Under democracy, people have a say, liberty to express their views, people feel more respected and connected under democracy where as non democracy is considered to lower people's morale, they feel more alienated under this system.

The democracy can be promoted through the following ways:

1. Registering unregistered voters: In this way, they can cast their votes and feel more involoved in the country. This will encourage them to cast their votes diligently after careful consideration.

2. Disclosure of the money spend: All political contributions, including those made to outside and independent groups, should be disclosed. Congress should also pass legislation requiring detailed disclosure of spending by congressional leadership. This will encourage fair spending on the money for politics and not for personal usage.

3. Strengthening Congressional committees: In order to avoid power being centralized, legislation should verify the full committee and amendment processes.

4. Simplified presidential apppointment process: The lengthy and complicated appointments process discourages many qualified applicants. The process should be simplified by curtailing unnecessary restrictions to serve, disclosing finance, reducing the number of positions requiring Senate confirmation and encouraging the private sector to allow employees to take a temporary position in government.

5. The United states should also focus on cooperating with other nongovernmental organizations to have better collaboration.

6. The United States investments in democracy and governance should reflect a strong understanding of democracy as a processand support good governance of newly democratic societies.

7. The United States should also promote and protect the rights of minorties and there should be more respect for their religion, customs.

The above reasons can help in spreading democracy in US.
