Expert Solution

Population explosion:

Population refers to the people living within a political or geographical boundary . It is a count of number of residents within a political or geographical boundary such as a town, a nation, or the world. Population explosion meant the sudden increase in the world population in the past and current decades. The main reason for population explosion is the decrease in death rate due to advances in medical science, vaccines etc and increased birth rate in developing countries.

( I think) the world is threatened by population explosion. Current world population is approximately 7.8 billion. It was 1 billion in 1800 and within 200 years a drastic increase happened in the number of human population. This drastic increase in the number of people adversely affected and affecting the environment in a large sense . Paul Ehrlich mentioned this increase in population as ' The Population Bomb' in  his writings on 1968. The major dangers associated with overpopulation are:

* Depletion or non- renewable resources such as Petroleum products.

* Lack of food supply

* Lack of safe drinking water.

* Easy spreading of Pandemic or other communicable diseases

* Threat to environment from, increased housing, deforestation, Ozone layer depletion due to increased chloro- fluro - carbons, increased Carbon dioxide from vehicles and factories , animal and plant species destruction etc.

* Unemployment, poverty, increased violence and criminal activity, violence against women and children, terrorism all are other aftereffects of Population explosion.
