The correct answer is A. Facilitates transport of glucose into the cells
Type 1 diabetes occurs when the insulin producing beta cells of pancreas is destroyed by the immune system. This condition is more common among children and young age people and is commonly called as Juvenile diabetes.
Insulin is a hormone that helps the movement of glucose into the cells by the process called active transport mechanism. If any damage to the beta cells of pancreas results in decrease in the production of insulin production and secretion. As a result, glucose is unable to move inside the cells and it gets accumulates in the blood stream resulting in elevated blood glucose level.
Option B is not the right answer because insulin has no effect in the stimulation of beta cells of pancreas.
Option C is not the right answer because insulin does not increase the intracellular receptor site sensitivity
Option D is not the right answer because insulin does not delays the carbohydrate digestion and absorption.
