Introduction- Controlled processing- When we use our attention to perform any task related to cognition, we use the controlled processing.

Characteristics of controlled processing-

1- The Controlled process required our attention and decision making and problem-solving skill.

2- Controlled processes require us to think about situations and evaluation of conditions.

3- Controlled process experience difficulties to perform multitasking because they need proper attention to any task.

4- The two task condition need more attention so that the controlled process experience problems during both tasks.

Example- Driving, writing, surgery, chess playing are some example of controlled processing.

Characteristics of Automatic processing-

1- These processes take less attention and conscious efforts so that we can work for a long time easily.

2- Automatic processing help us to perform multitasking and increase our ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.

3- The productive value of automatic processing always been less effortful than controlled processing.

4- Post consciousness automatically depends on recent conscious experience for its occurrence.

Example- Walking, swimming, piano playing, and typing are automatic processing if we developed our skills through practice.
