Piaget’s four stages of cognitive development are following----

sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational period. These thoeory mainly used for that how does mental development growth of children in four different stages.

Sensoritomotor-- This stage starts from birth to two years. Infant knows about their surrounding and world with the help of movement and sensation and some basic action like looking, listening. During the early stage of cognitive development children gain their knowledge through sensory experience. This stage is very important for their life. Children does not only learn about physical action but also learn about the language.

Preoperational---This stage starts from two to seven years. Children start to think with the help of symbol and learn to use words and pictures to represent the object. In this stage children also develop their memories and they can understand the difference between past and future. They think mostly about themselves in this stage.

Concrete operational- Ages between seven to eleven years. During this stage children think about anything logically. Children in the concrete operational stage starts to understand that their thoughts are very unique to them. During this stage most of the children can't think hypothetically. This stage includes ability to classify the objects into groups and subgroups,

Formal operational period--- Ages from 12 and above. In the last stage of theory, adult can capable to see multiple object and think scientifically about the world. The child can now use their existing knowledge inthis stage to create new theories about the world and make predictions about what will happen in the future.
