EXPLANATION:
The solution for the COVID-19 pandemic is
everyone's duty, with billions confined to home, a worldwide
economy in dire straitjacket, and countless precious lives in
danger. In helping governments, businesses and people all over the
world cope with the ongoing crisis and ultimately overcome this
epidemic, the ICT community plays a vital role. ICT technologies
and services have also facilitated the continuous access of
communities worldwide to healthcare, education and critical
products and services. The newspaper provides a wide variety of
services.
ITU, as the UN's multinational and diverse professional information
and communication body, has called upon ICT and others to take up
the task and to show unity against the danger to mankind posed by
the pandemic.ITU has launched its Global Network
Resilience Initiative (REG4Covid), to enable policy makers,
regulators, and players across the industry to make networks as
resilient and as accessible as possible, with a view to resolving
the pressure faced by telecommunications networks, which are vital
to people's health and safety worldwide.
ITU and WHO, with funding from UNICEF, have initiated an initiative
in order to collaborate with telecommunication companies in order
to help them defend themselves against COVID 19 in text messages
directly on their cell phones using critical health messages. These
text messages can touch billions of people who can not connect to
the Internet. In addition to the Global Education
Alliance of UNESCO, ITU has reaffirmed ITU's commitments to
connecting people at all stages of education to learning
possibilities in these challenging times and developing long-term
more sustainable education systems for over 1.5 billion students
and youth around the world, affected by academic
closures.
