it is argued that effective, formal communication plays a vital role in the success of organisations. as the administrator of an NGO with 20 employees of what relevance do you think communication can be to you
Effective and formal communication helps the companies manage their communication flow from one level to the other. It is a form of scalar chain where a person can only talk to the immediate superior to him/her. The superior will then transfer the information further to the top authorities. In many leading firms, the managers and the employees tend to take the support of the formal chain of communication. Formal communication helps to maintain order and discipline in the company. The subordinates and the managers know about the authority- responsibility relationship. They know who they have to report. It enhances the effectiveness of the organization so that it can operate in a much productive manner. Informal way of communication hampers the growth of the company. No employee is aware of the responsibilities, and the concerned authorities, as it creates chaos in the company. However, formal communication is not effective in all types of organizations. In NGOs or Non-Profit Organizations, the employees or the managers should use the informal way of communication to communicate with the managers easily, and the authorities to give their best ideas about the initiatives. Hence, a formal communication process will consequently decrease the chances of effective communication and will hamper the growth. NGOs need people, and fewer formalities to ease the operations.
