Sustaining change is a crucial practice an organization can follow in order to improve the benefits or reduce costs. Sometimes it is very well taken by the employees and stake holders and some times not taken well. Thus, it is on part of management to take necessary steps to induce changes and make them sustained in the organization.
Methods I would use to sustain change in each of the following cases are as follows.
1. In this case all the health facilitators like Physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialists are given to work as a whole team in a collaborative 360 view process to take care of the patients: method to sustain this change are
· Information and participation: all the health care providers, being very well educated and professionals need to be informed and made sure they understand that this change is need of the hour and much needed in the organization. And let them participate in the new way of developing the role and duties of each, keeping in mind how they can very well bring in the change. Make sure they understand that this change would bring positive results for all of them and the organization. If at all there is resistance, understand and handle it properly and show appreciation to the ones who have adopted change.
2. Two departments who used to work independently in silos have agreed to work together for a particular project.
· Make them understand the importance of leveraging: one of the important things to do is managing their mindset. The teams who have worked in silo have an individualistic mindset which need to be changed. Clear objectives and expectations are to be set. Team members are to be held accountable if they think more of their objectives rather than team objectives. Help them build good rapport and relationship. And address conflicts soon and well.
3. An executive is practicing his presentation rather than going extemporaneously
· Focusing on efficiency: practice or rehearsing presentation makes the presenter or executive know what all changes to be made, how to make it better. Lack of rehearsing can make ineffective presentation and can lead to loss of clients and business. To make more efficient business presentations one has to rehearse well.
4. Organization has thought of going green i.e. waste reduction, recycling and environmentally friendly practices.
· Being responsible and improving job satisfaction: though going green makes it lower costs and save money. But the main benefit is the feeling one get when you act responsible, take care of environment. Focusing on that satisfaction level can help employees follow these guidelines. Cleaner and greener environment makes sure employees have good health benefits.
