Sustaining change can be difficult, as there are many variables that can affect implementation. One critical component of EBP is to ensure that practice change is part of an organization's culture so it will continue to impact outcomes over time. Name two potential barriers that may prevent your EBP change proposal from continuing to obtain the same desired results 6 months to a year from now, and your strategies for overcoming these barriers.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Barriers to EBP change:

  • Insufficient time and knowledge - Insufficient time is one of the barriers in the EBP change. The nurses have insufficient time to implement their new ideas. The nurses have a lack of knowledge and authority to critique the clinical problem.
  • Resistance - The nurses are always practiced in one way. They don't have the authority to change the procedures. EBP change is challengeable where the individual cannot make the change over time. Evidenced-based care and approach are culturally important.

Strategies to overcome the change:

  • Stakeholders have to make necessary changes in the outcome measures.
  • The administration should develop an organizational culture by implementing new techniques which support EBP.
  • EBP environment gives way for the change of organizational behavior.
  • Individual should have access to information to improve their knowledge.
  • The nurse should be given with sufficient time, authority, autonomy to the change of practice.
  • The nurse must learn to take clinical judgment and should value the evidence.

Purchasing a car is a difficult decision. Car prices are a function of many variables such as mileage, age, foreign or domestic manufacture and engine technology utilized. Develop and run the following multiple regression model: Interpret the beta coefficient (slope)s of all slopes: mileage, age, dummy engine and dummy foreign Interpret R squared value of the model and root mean squared error (RMSE) Would mileage and age influence your decision based on the statistical output for this sample data? Would...

Making decisions on what to do can be difficult if there are many options and different requirements (criteria) that affect the decision. A practical way to help make decisions that involve selecting the best option from many based on how well each option satisfies each criterion is an “advanced prioritization matrix”. Using an example of purchasing a new car, television, cell phone, computer or any other item, construct an “advanced prioritization matrix” showing all options, multiple criteria, weight of each...
