if you added an idea to the treatment of sustaining change, what would be your contribution?
In my opinion, sustaining the change is just like embeding the change in the fabric of an organization. It should happen in people, process, and structures. Change cannot just happen in one place, it has to be finely woven like a fabric keeping all the loose ends intact. That is how a perfect organization can be woven by sustaining the change.
If i have to contribute on sustaining change, i would say, start by changing the way employees are looked upon. Happy employees can make companies successful. So, Employees should clearly made to understand that they are assets of the company and together they can bring in the change. And without them, change is completely impossible. Changing the mindsets of the people is very difficult part. Once the mindsets of the employees change, rest all do not take much time.
So, the first step is to clearly define the business objectives the change is intended to deliver. Next step is to understand the current situation of the organization its culture, its capabilities, its employees and its experiences. Lastly, communicate the change to the people working for the organization, because they are the biggest support in change, without which the above two steps are impossible to change or sustain change.
