why it is important for educators to understand play and cognitive development for school age children and adolescents?
It is important for an educator to remember the importance of play and cognitive development in a school going child and adolescents. The play has a very integral role in every student's life and thus it has to be in the academic environment. Having play as a part of the school activity makes sure that the school environment helps in the social and emotional as well as cognitive development of children. Play which is a physical activity helps in the cognitive development of children as they mostly get into peer interactions during the playtime.
Another important thing that an educator must know is the impact of the absence of play in school-age child and adolescents. Absence of play can create cognitive difficulties which will ultimately hamper their learning and behaviour. In such case, it is the responsibility of the educator to give proper supports and care to the child or inform his or her parents or family.
