The Normative Model of Leadership is a highly flexible model with regards to the choices a leader can make in effecting decisions. This can range from highly dictatorial to democratic. The different parameters that shape a decision are quality, commitment of group or members of an organization and time restrictions.
Under this model, there are five decision making styles or leadership styles.
Autocratic (A1)- In this style of leadership, the leader makes the decisionhimself, using the information readily available to him.
Autocratic (A2)- this is a less stringent autocratic style, wherein the leader consults the group members to gain more informations and insight and then will make the decision himself. Although he may or may not share the final decision with the group.
Consultative (C1)- In this style, the leader consults individuals to know their opinion. After which, the leader makes the decision himself.
Consultative (C2)- Here the leader consults the group to seek their individual opinions and suggestions. The leader will make the decision himself.
Collaborative (G2)- In this style, the group makes the decision. The leader plays a supporting role wherein he ensures that everyone agrees on the decision
