  • A concept that describes the process in which an individual (is forced to) learn to fit in with her social and cultural environment. This process happens in different stages, according to sociologists, following the child’s development with family, peers, teachers, larger society and so on. A few agents of socialization include: family, school, media, cultural texts. To one degree or another, society and the way you're brought up influences your life choices, including your choice of career and even the personal life choices.
  • My family and school has been the most influential social agents that have affected my personal life, wherein I have been taught by my parents to treat everyone equally,no discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, caste etc.,be honest, never hurt anyone with my actions,be hardworking, and be financially independent. They always encouraged me to do whatever I wanted or liked, which is why in school I took up performing arts and won a lot of competitions which also boosted my confidence.
  • School helped me to focus my attention on my career choice,my teachers highlighted my potential in human resources and psychology and that affected my choices of colleges and what I wanted to do in future.
  • Parents instilled discipline in me as well as the importance of being educated, which drove me to study hard and achieve something in life. Helping others, being part of social work groups came not only from my parents but my university as well.My university had major philanthropy projects, and we were encouraged by our teachers to participate in it.My parents also do little bit of social work and always value being kind to others and helping others in times of need.
  • All these values and influences have shaped up my identity and I know what works for me and what does not.It has made me confident with high self esteem, and motivated that I can challenge myself and also spread the message of goodness among others as well.
