Anthropology is a study of humans. It deals with cross-cultural differences in social institutions, cultural beliefs and communication styles. Anthropology is concerned not only with particular man but also with man in groups, with races, people and their happenings and doings.
Sociology is a study of social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. The associations between people and the products of human interactions such as organizations, technologies, economies, cities, culture, media and religion.
Anthropology concentrates on man as he is. On the other hand, sociology analyses man as social animal. Sociologists have to depend upon anthropologists to understand the present-day social phenomena from our knowledge of the past which is often provided by anthropology. Sociological topics such as the origin of family, the beginning of marriage, private property, the genesis of religion, etc., can better be understood in the light of anthropological knowledge.
