Analyze the differences between John the Baptist and Jesus in terms of teaching, activity, style, and perceived identity using the gospel of your choosing as a test case (be clear which gospel you’re choosing and, of course, cite your verses). Do these differences suggest to you that Jesus learned from John in some capacity? Explain why or why not.
The time frame of the two men was more or less similar and they were also related. Both their births wfs announced by Gabriel the angel. They were both not very much paid attention to by the political leaders of their time or the religious ones. But, both were followed by people. The differences between John the Baptist and Jesus Christ could be understood as follows:
- John the Baptist was identified as
the prophet whereas Jesus was identified as the son of the one who
is the most high.
- Jesus had been send in the form of the light of the world whereas
John the Baptist had been sent to witness this light.
- they were both baptised by one another .
- John - " repent! Flee from the wrath to come". In jesus's
preachings, there was always a gospel thsf was followed. Jesus
taught that faith was the ultimate. He taught that it was required
to have faith as that acts as the open door.
- the words spoken by John the Baptist were to deliver the word of
god. On the other hand, Jesus did not speak in thst manner. He
spoke in a manner that signified his authority. In a manner that
spoke for oneself. Jesus emphasised on the idea of personal
experience and satisfaction and looked away from miracle
speaking.
