The teaching of Jesus suggest that the healing work is special. what is your view that nursing is not only compassionate but redemptive.(500 words)
Nursing professionals play an important role in a patient’s life by taking care of the individuals of all ages, families, groups, or communities and providing them autonomous and collaborative care in order to promote their health and support the ill, disabled, or dying people. Jesus came to this world not to heal people from their sickness or disabilities but to deliver them from sin and evil. In the Bible, John 5, verses 8-9, Jesus heals an impotent man and on verse 14, he says to him, ‘sin no more’. Hence nursing is not only relieving them from physical stress but also preparing them to be mentally stable in the future in order to avoid such disease or disability to happen again. Jesus also lived as an example showing how to live a spiritual life to be saved from sin. The way nurses are preparing themselves in serving the patients using the required PPEs and precautionary measures sets an example to the common people on how to live in a world filled with a deadly virus. In this context, Sin can be compared to deadly diseases because both cause trouble and spreads easily to others.
The COVID-19 pandemic can be taken as an example where the health industry is fighting hard to recover from such a terrible disease. There are many nurses who are sacrificing their family and their personal health while saving others. Many doctors and nurses even got infected with the virus as they are treating the patients. Jesus, died on the cross taking all the sins upon him to save mankind. He did by preparing others (his disciples) to take control of his responsibilities and to share the gospel all around the world. When there is no hope of medicine, its only the nursing professionals who are in the front row fighting the deadly disease and without them, the world would have been doomed with no one left behind.
Hence being compassionate alone does not save a person and lead them to eternity but redemption does. Jesus even says that if a part of the body causes trouble to be away from sin cut it off and throw it away as it is better to be without a single body part instead of a whole body in hell (as in Matthew 5.30). Similarly, the nursing professionals should not hesitate to remove any part of the body that causes trouble so that the remaining body parts can be saved from trouble. God (Yahweh) himself cannot come to mankind and deliver them because no one can stand before the almighty hence he sent Jesus to lead the people to be with them and lead them towards Eternity. Jesus followed the orders of Yahweh. Similarly, the doctors cannot do each and everything for the patients and can only direct what needs to be done and what not to be done. Hence, nurses are made in charge to follow the orders and guide the people to save them from the diseases or manage them with their disabilities. People need to believe in them and do as they say to recover or get saved from the sufferings.
