Briefly describe a time that your efforts have fallen short, a goal was not accomplished, or an aspiration was not achieved.
What steps did you take to recover from this defeat? What resources did you use? How and why are you different today?
An instance of my life when I met with failure was when my application to my dream university was rejected. A spent much of my time during my high school working on my academic performance and extracurricular activities in the hopes of increasing my chances of acceptance. To my utter disappointment, these efforts fell short as my candidature was not accepted. This incident was a huge blow to my self-esteem, especially because I never worked this hard for any other goal.
At this juncture however, I realised the importance of a social support network. My family members in particular Sid everything they could to help me reconcile with my failure. They pushed me to take a break year and travel, and reminded me almost everyday how valuable my happiness was for them. Their support gave me strength to accept my predicament and think of alternative paths I could take. The lesson taught me that a strong support system during a time of personal crisis is essential.
