Explain Design Build method
In its simplest terms, Design-build is a method of project delivery in which one entity - the design-build team - works under a single contract with the project owner to provide design and construction services. One entity, one contract, one unified flow of work from initial concept through completion. the design-build construction delivery method replaces the traditional method of awarding separate contracts for design and construction. The contractor, designers, subcontractors and owner work together as one team to build a project that meets or exceeds the owner’s expectations. Team members focus on communication, collaboration and solving problems together rather than pointing fingers and placing blame. Design-build is also known as design/construct and single-source responsibility. Across the country and around the world, design-build successfully delivers office buildings, schools, stadiums, transportation, and water infrastructure projects with superior results.
Distinctive Characteristics of Design-Build
There are three distinctive characteristics in the Design-Build approach:
Communicating instantaneously: being able to communicate instantaneously speeds the whole process which improves your project schedule.
Conducting business without boundaries: you have no physical or geographical boundaries getting in the way of your timeline.
Producing customized products: the ability to quickly produce products that are custom and not your prototypical replications.
A Design-Build Team is usually made up of people who have worked together before. They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and can build off that knowledge to make the process more streamlined and successful.
