Yes. The herbal medicine need more stringent control. Because people believe in the myth that labelling 'natural' are always safe and good for them. This is not necessarily true. Herbal medicines do not have to go through the testing that drugs do. Some herbs can cause serious diseases.

So I think they are safe to take with a doctor's consent. A person should not take any kind of medicine without doctors knowledge.

Precipitation drugs will be stronger than OTC( Over-the-counter). And herb medicines are same as the OTP medicine. Even though both should take only by doctor's knowledge.

In my personal experience I have taken herbal medicines and ayurveda medicines and it worked.

Triphala choornam- Kottakkal Aryavaidya Shala- able to restore digestive and constitutional health in people with obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
Guggulu thikthakam- ETM thaikkattmoos- to cut cholesterol
