Based on Piaget’s theory, create a parenting plan to educate parents and how to deal with a five-year-old boy and parents bringing home a newborn baby sister? What parenting style is most effective in the long term and how can understanding the stages of child development improve the parents ability to interact with their child? Provide examples using one of Piagets stages?

Constructive theory of Piaget state that people’s knowledge and perception are based on their experiences.

This theory consists theories of learning, methods of teaching, and reforms in education.

Main elements which create the development of new knowledge of an individual are assimilation and accommodation.

Assimilation causes absorption of new ideas into old experiences. On the other hand, accommodation refers to reframing new idea and word into mental capacity.

Children from age 2 to 7 exhibit preoperational stage. In this stage children tends to become less egocentric and tries to understand thing from others perspective. Their interest and curiosity increases in this stage.Hence,five year boy should be encouraged to interact with his new-born sister and at the same time he should not be neglected.

In the comparison of peers, Children who go to preschool exhibit better devolvement ( cognitive).

According to researchers of Columbia University in their research in July 2003 in “Developmental psychology ”; child under the age of 8 years shows more IQ if the child attended minimum 400 days in preschool at 2 to 3 years age in comparison of the similar child who not or less attended preschool.
