Describe the role of parents and
discuss how different parenting styles impact adolescents’
behavioral outcome
There are different roles that a
parent would be playing in the life of a child. These roles are as
follows:
- Supporting the education of the
child.
- The role played by the parent for
making the home a desirable place for learning.
- The role of the parent to help the
child in homework.
- Praising and encouragement
- To emphasise on efforts that the
child.
Parenting styles play a major role
in the manner in which the kids would be affected, also, this plays
a significant role in the future of the child. There are four forms
of parenting styles, and these impact the adolescent behavior in
the following ways:
- Authoritarian: the
parents, in this style adhere strictly to their roles also for with
exercising a lot of control. Children of such parents may be
lacking leadership skills or skills of communication. Also, these
children might become authoritarian in the future run.
- Authoritative:
these are the parents who would be encouraging their children
wuchthat they would be independent along with setting of
boundaries. These parents do apply discipline, but, by being
supportive. These parents provide an increased level of
independence to the children. Such children or teenagers may be
leaders , having self reliance and self control.
- Indulgent
parenting: these are the parents who would be providing
large amount of interaction as well as warmth, but, would not be
including constraints or setting boundaries. These children are
higher in their creativity but, the amount of self control is less.
As a result, the interpersonal relationships are more one
sided.
- Neglectful
parenting: these parents ould not be indulging much with
their children, they would be spending little amount of time along
with their children, and these children would be would be having
Behavioral problems along with lack of behavior problems, also,
they would be having poor communication skills.
