Explain 5 non-monetary motivation for an Indonesian employee?
In Indonesia, employees have close ties with their family, religion and other personal factors such as healthcare. Though people value money as being very important that determines their status, it is not the sole indicator nor is it a financial motivation. The five non-monetary motivations for an Indonesian employee are:
1. Status- An individual’s status comes from his/her positions. This power and status would help them to have memberships, fringe benefits and company cars. These benefits are accrued from the power and status and not due to their performance.
2. Promotion- Unlike the Western countries, promotion increases the wealth, status and power. Indonesian employees are motivated by increasing their status.
3. Relationship with superiors- Indonesian employees are motivated when they have good business relationship with their superiors. This motivates them to contribute successfully to the productivity of the organization.
4. Appreciations- Verbal appreciations motivates Indonesian employees to contribute successful for organizational improvements.
5. Culture- When Indonesian employees are acknowledged their culture, they feel motivated and work productively to a greater extent.
