Based on your own unique Learning Patterns, identify two specific strategies to enhance your critical reading skills and two specific strategies to enhance your critical writing skills. My LCI scores are: Sequence – 23; Precision – 28; Technical Reasoning – 16; and Confluence – 17. This indicates that am a Strong Willed Learner, being a strong willed learner has both advantages and disadvantages.

Strategies to enhance critical reading skills:

• Use of graphic organizers to illustrate concepts and relationships between concepts in a text or using diagrams. Regardless of the label, graphic organizers can help readers focus on concepts and how they are related to other concepts.

• Summarizing the material so that students can determine what is important in the text and to put it into their own words. Instruction in summarizing helps students identify main ideas, connect the main themes, eliminate unnecessary information and remember what they read.

Strategies to improve critical writing skills include:

• Adopting an analytical approach by breaking down an idea or concept into its constituent parts and then assembling it into a meaningful whole. This can involve comparing and contrasting with related information to identify the similarities and differences and explaining the causes and effects of an action, event, or situation, to identify their origins and understand their results.
• ?Aiming to write persuasively in order to change readers’ opinions or beliefs or encouraging them to accept the credibility or possibility of one’s opinion or belief.
