Assume that you are training an employee to diagnose and repair a loose wire in an electrical socket. After demonstrating the procedure to follow, you let the trainee show you how to do it. The trainee has correctly demonstrated the process & the repairs the connection as well. In such a case I believe that trainee has got an understanding of how the process works. I think learning has occurred because he didn't take support & implemented the task on its own.

The process involved self-practice, self-evaluation & reflection and hence the knowledge & the skill was gained.

Learning occurs when:

The mental or physical understanding of the subject is gained.
When the learner draws inspiration and makes sense from a task or subject by interpreting in own words & language or through actions.
Learning also takes place when a new skill or competency/knowledge is acquired along with skills & understanding of the entire process
Doing something with knowledge or skill
Taking ownership of the new skill

I believe the trainee has shown that he has learnt the task but the process hasn't stopped. He will have to apply this task learning in real-world & continuously adapt to challenging requirements of the tasks.

Learning to occur is an ongoing process and aspect of life which takes place continuously for the better or for worse.
