3) What does Elijah Anderson argue in the Code of the Street?
After doing an extreme research, Elijah Anderson argues that the thinking and behavior of adults and youths are influenced by street culture or code.According to Elijah Anderson ''Code" represents the violent reaction or response to Interpersonal attack. Sometimes it also shows the disrespect.
According to Elijah, living in poor inter-city can create violence and aggression to the youth. Not only that sometimes people who are belonging in a poor community can do some agressive crimes such as Burglaries, Drug addiction, murders and Muggings. The main factors behind this kind of agression are poor economical conditions of the family, unemployment for a long period of time and living in poor environment.
Elijah Anderson also stated that, living in such a poor and unhealthy environment can brings the risk of agression behaviors to the youth generation.
Criticism of Elijah's finding
Criminology department had approved the validity and reliability of Elijah's finding. Researchers also have used Quantitative research method for finding the genunity of Elijah Anderson's argument.
After so many researches,the researchers stated that the assumption of Elijah's gives a complete explanation about the youth violence. As it is describing the influences of street culture in violent behaviors, it helps to understand the main cause behind a violent behavior of youths.
