why understanding of the types of knowledge is important for building and sustaining a structured knowledge management system ?
There are two kinds of knowledge that is as follow-
Tacit- Tacit knowledge is hard to articulate. Tacit or unarticulated knowledge is more personal, experiential, context specific, and hard to formalize. This kind of knowledge is difficult to communicate or share with others, and is generally inside the heads of individuals and teams.
Explicit- Explicit knowledge, which can be expressed in words and numbers and can be easily communicated and shared in hard form, as scientific formulas, codified procedures, or universal principles.
Since knowledge may be an organization's only sustainable competitive advantage, it is very important to capture tacit knowledge because of the communication and presentation skill development in the organization. Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) can play an important role in knowledge?intensive processes and flows. Sustaining structured knowledge management systems requires clear understanding about the knowledge and type’s knowledge. While creating structured knowledge management systems we must have clear knowledge about the types of knowledge and their elements.
