• Replace the word “failing” with the word “learning”. I choose this to use in my academic life,I tend to always think I’m not meeting the standards of my other students or peers. I should be studying more or reading more, I could have taken my time during the test. This reminds me that a fail is not a fail, it’s a learning experience. So learn and do not do it again.
• Celebrate growth with others. I choose this for my personal life. Every step of the way in my long 18 year service to the United States of the Air Force, my wife has seen and shared with me every challenges and growth, maybe it be a promotion to a new rank, new position and even failing a test and not achieving my goal. Not only do I celebrate my growth with my wife but also my family.
• Cultivate a sense of purpose. I choose to use this in my professional life. I need to instill in my subordinates a sense of purpose, why we do what we do in the US Air Force, give them pride andlet them see the big picture. Everybody has a role or part to play, so that they can be motivated and dedicated to accomplish the mission at a moment’s notice.
