Expert Solution

Gamification is one of the best ways to attract the potential candidates. The company will have a set of qualities that they look for in an employee and they can make use of the same qualities in the My Marriott Hotel Game. They can use this game to test the communication, analytical, behavioral, leadership, and problem-solving skills of the candidates. They can use these qualities as different tasks to be completed after a person enters the hotel and each task will be given certain points after successful completion. This way the HR can screen the potential candidates and the candidates do not feel the pressure of a formal HR interview. They will enjoy the process the HR team will get to see the best of the candidates when they involved in the game. They can also integrate the organizational goals into the game and see which candidate possesses similar goals.

The measurement of the effectiveness can be done using the scoring method where each task given to the candidate will have certain points to be achieved. Every task should also have a fixed timing in order to see what they can do in a given period of time. This will help the HR team easily filter the candidates based on their scores and performance. We can measure the effectiveness of this approach by the analyzing the quality of the candidates who have cleared the HR round and gone ahead to the next round. The HR team can also take a survey to know the experience of the candidates while playing the game. The selected employees should also perform well in the other rounds of the interview where their analytical and reasoning skills are tested. If the results are matching then the gamification process is working great and if there is a mismatch in the results then the process requires changes in order to become fully effective.
