What is the relationship between Microvilli of gut, epithelium, glucose, circulatory system, capillary fenestrations, glucose/ATP/life. Major emphasis on RELATIONSHIP
We eat food which is complex in nature. Our digestive system breaks down complex food into simpler ones such as glucose. This mainly occurs in the small intestine which is supplied with villi or finger-like projections specifically to increase the surface area of absorption. Glucose comes in the blood to be circulated so that it may be transported to every cell. Facilitated diffusion favours the glucose entry into the cells where glucose undergoes oxidation by a complex process which forms ATP as the energy currency of the cell. Glucose reach cells through capillary fenestrations or perforations located on the walls of the capillaries. The small size of the glucose permits them to be filtered out of the capillaries through the fenestrations. Thus the whole process is complex but the intention is simple that is to make and give life. In the absence of any of the processes, there would be no life.
