Solutions

Expert Solution

a). IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy) - It is a process of frequent two and three dimensional imaging used before and during radiation therapy to improve the precision and accuracy of treatment delivery.

b).  SRS (Spine Radiosurgery) - It is a new radiation therapy technique for spinal metastasis that can deliver a high dose of radiation to a tumor while minimizing the radiation delivered to healthy, neighboring tissues and requires no recovery time.

c). SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy) - It is a radiation therapy that uses  imaging techniques to deliver a targeted radiation dose to a tumor in the body ( except the Central Nervous System). Here the total dose of radiation is divided into smaller doses and hence sparing normal tissues.

d). GTV (Gross Tumor Volume) - A tumor which can be seen, palpated or imaged by various imaging techniques.

e). PTV (Planning Target Volume) - It is a geometric concept designed to ensure that the radiotherapy dose is actually delivered to the CTV (Clinical Target Volume) and allows for uncertainties in planning or treatment delivery.

f). BED (Binge Eating Disorder) - It is categorized as repeated and uncontrollable bouts of consuming abnormally large amounts of food. It is commonly called as compulsive overeating.

g). 4DCT (4D Computed Tomography) - It is a type of CT scanning which records multiple images over time thus make it is easier to captures the location and movement of your tumor and the movement of your body’s organs over time.
