Transactional leadership
Transactional leadership can be witnessed as a leadership style in which the leader does the following to accomplish a work.He supervises the employees under him or the team , he organises as to how the work is done or should be done and then keeps complete track of the overall performance. The followers or the employees get rewarded if the job has been done in an excellent manner or get punished if the job is not done according to the expectation. So it has both positive and negative elements as its basic properties.Leaders who follow this type of leadership style are with the idea or focus of following only what is already established. They do not wish for any kind of change or creativity in their process.They are keen to complete the work in a standard manner.They are often of the type who find many faults with the employees and criticise. They always are in the good books of the management as they complete the given work by stressing the team or the employees more.This kind of leadership is applicable to organisations or business that are completely established ,there are no confusions as to follow the procedures and there is no going against established rules. People under such leadership become monotone and get used to routine work.
Transformational leadership
Transformational leadership is considered one of the best type of leadership style that is highly motivating , encouraging and creative. The leader becomes highly inspirational and are eagerly followed by the team.In this leadership style the employees are always reminded of the purpose and the objective of the work. So that they understand the work and do it with motivation and sincerity. Transformational leader becomes the source of encouragement for the team.These leaders create a vision for their work and lead the team according to the vision.They show a sense of trust towards each other , enjoy working with others in a team and the end result is excellent productivity
