Calculate the throughput achieved by the following network paths (think of the overall throughput as the average bit arrival rate at the destination):
(a) a 100-Mbps Ethernet path with three switches between the source and the destination. The propagation delay of each link is 10µs and each switch begins retransmitting immediately after it has finished receiving the packet.
(b) Same setting as in (a), but the sender must wait for a 50-byte ACK packet for every 12,000-bit data that it sends, before it can send another packet (Here, just calculate the throughput over one round).
(c) An 8-hour overnight shipment of 100 DVDs of 4.7Gbytes each.
Important things to note :
Tp (data) = Tp(Acknowledgement packet) since all are propagated at once after transmission
Propagation delay is hence defined as the time taken by the head of the signal to reach destination
