Many people confuse environmental sustainability as well as sustainable development to be the same thing. Though, the overall goal of both of these principles are the same, there lies difference in their actual meaning. Environmental sustainability is where there would be observation of natural resources and there would be development of alternate sources, along with prevention of harming the environment.

Sustainability is an important discipline, where, students as well as graduates would be gaining insight to various aspects of the world of humans, that include technology , environment as well as social sciences. Sustainability skills as well as environmental awareness should be priority in maintains the well being of the environment.

By sustainability, the natural systems would be able to function in the better manner, along with maintenance of ecological balance for production of various items. Sustainability would be considering the manner in which a person would be living in harmony with the world that surrounds t, so that they would be protected from destruction and damage.

Sustainability is important to social work, since, people with social work carry out their action in response to taking the world as a whole in a direction that would be better towards the entire world and the humanity as a whole. Hen when studying social work, the study of sustainability allows a person to be learning about various fields that include economic development, social development as well as environmental protection. These concern both the planet and the individual or the society as a whole.

Economic development: this is one of the biggest issues that affect sustainability. This is because, may people state that because of economic development, there would be destruction of environment. These are more influential as there would be complete awareness from the community as well. As there would be complete awareness , even after an increase in the supply and demand market, there would not be any damage to the environment.

Social development: there are many aspects to this component. It is required that people should be gaining access to the basic life amenities, and they should not comprise with the life’s quality at the same time. Though, in carrying out social development, it is required that the environment shouldn’t be compromised with.

  • clean water act: for regulating discharge into the waters
  • Clean air act: for preventing the air quality
  • Endangered species act: for protecting the animals who would be in the danger of being extinct.
  • The Lacey act: for combatting trafficking of illegal plants, animals, as well as wildlife.
