If a non-English speaking country had established the internet, do you think that country would impose its own "cultural imperialism" on the web? Why or Why not?
There are vast varieties of people using the internet who differ from each other in their preferences and tastes. So it is very important that internet service providers take this fact into cognizance and develop and provide content which is suitable to a certain geography. I feel that if a non-English country would have developed the internet it would not have imposed cultural imperialism over the rest of the world because other countries apart from the US might not have had the feeling of superiority which the US has. Apart from that, the internet, in that case, would have had used spread across the globe more evenly and in order to make sure that more and more users could use the services the content would have been provided in the local language and in a manner which matches the tastes and preference of the local population. This has also become the trend these days to provide content in the local language as it resonates well with them.
