We often think of important parts of the physical world like our own bodies, in concrete terms. Explain why the body can be seen as a cultural construct as well. Can you think of anything and examples in the past or present

Solutions

Expert Solution

It is important to understand what cultural constructs are. Cultural constructs are defined as characteristics that are defined through cultural notions, contexts and connotations.

The phsycial body is definitely a cultural construct and a product of cultural definition. The construct of how phsycial bodies are perceived is somehting that takes place through interaction and a shared notion, or common belief in how it should be represented and presented. The body is defined differently in western countries, South East Asian countries and East Asian countries. And this disparate definitions is owing to the cultural shifts.

The trends that we see in terms of body were different in the past and are different now, then was a trend of zero size, until it changed to vivacious bodies. And even more so, the bodies of women have been given more consideration than that of men. So that explains more so that it's is a cultural construct.

Often we would like to make the user think we like him/her so we use a friendly prompt to get them to decide if they want to continue a loop. One can make a sentinel using an integer value outside of the expected input range but a more delightful way is to ask politely if: System.out.println("Do you want to play again?); In order to do this we will need a scanner and a do-while loop. For the scanner sometimes the...

When we think of antibodies, we normally think of them as our own body's way of defending us against pathogens. Antibodies, however, have also been used as a therapeutic treatment for certain diseases. Specifically, Ebola virus has been treated by using antibodies from reconvalescent patients. Explain why this treatment method works, and why you think it is more effective than antivirals. Also discuss how practical/feasible this type of treatment would be if there were to be a large-scale outbreak of...
