the importance of understanding multiculturalism in effective interviewing. We often take for granted our own assumptions, values, and ways of perceiving the world until we encounter people from another culture. Recall a time when you experienced “culture shock” by traveling to another part of the world or by interacting with someone from another culture and were surprised by some of your own assumptions. If you have not interacted with people from different cultures, think about a book or film in which you became aware of your own assumptions and discovered that they were not universal.

Identify and explain an example of “culture shock” either from your own experience or from a movie or book and explain how your personal assumptions were challenged.

Hello !

I personally experienced cultural shock a few years back when I moved to a new city when I was a kid from my little home town of coorg to a huge and happening metropolitan city of Bangalore ,well I had my aunt living there so I was staying at their place for some time in till my mum got a job and we moved to our own place , I guess it was a few days into me living there that my uncle took me out on evening and I was amazed to see the huge buildings, the lights , the traffic, so much people I cannot forget that day it's still in my eye I was amazed and the culture and every thing around because my home town is a place where it always rains , surrounded by greens animals and people all owning land and usually all are more than a well to do family ,and we have our own ethnic attire that is so different to any culture here , it always felt like a shell and here in Bangalore there is numerous things to do the first shock for me was the day I attended school here , the kids were really helpful I mean on the first day itself I had friends that was not a problem but there was a huge difference in education and the way the teachers taught b3cuase back at my place everything was so different since coorg has a little bit of British influence our way was also such I still have problems figuring out many things in the education field I mean the way they wrote or recited was so different even thought it is the same state I figured out how a few miles can change everything but here in Bangalore since we have people from around the world and also from around the nation there are so many festivals and different rituals than my place and I think even now i feel cultural shock everyday after 13 years of living here I still cannot be the self cause the opinion of people differs so much and the climate too differs I feel here you are easily judged than the place i belong to .

Thankyou, hope this helped
