What does spirituality mean to you?(350 words)
Spirituality is a very broad and complex subject and there is n number of perspectives on it. According to me, spirituality is connecting with something that is bigger than ourselves and aims at searching for a meaning in life. It is a very sacred experience that touches us all in different ways and creates a deep sense of interconnectedness. For me, spirituality is not about believing just one god and following the teaches taught in their holy books. I do not believe in going to a temple, church, or a mosque and my definition of spirituality differ very much from this. My way of connecting with the higher power depends just on my belief in doing right things. I see the god in doing rightful things that can help people in some way. Any useful that I do is the god's work and this is my way of reaching him. I also strongly believe in meditation and it has helped me develop a good spiritual mind. Meditation has provided a way to concentrate my mind on positive things and keep myself away from the negative energy. Irrespective of religion or caste, any god would ask people to do good things and be good to others. But the people have neglected that aspect of spirituality and they are just fighting over small things that can only disturb the harmony in the society. What we believe and what our personality reflects on the society matters the most when we talk about spirituality. For a lot of people, spirituality is all about blindly following a religion just because their families and friends are doing it. They do not know the ideology and what that religion teaches them to do. I prefer to stay away from that and just concentrate on doing things that are universally good and try to make a positive change in the society. I do not also believe in developing an emotional feeling towards a particular person who claims to have a connection with the god. For me, the god resides in all of us and we can connect with him by being good to others. According to me the first step in spirituality is developing a good state of mind that is open to new ideas and good deeds.
