The main goals and objectives of the project approval committee are
1. Approve new sub projects and their associated essential resources.
2. Approve project phase completion after each phase of the development lifecycle.
3. Prevent nonproductive or unapproved projects from consuming valuable project resources.
4. Enforce project management planning during the initial planning and design phases of the development lifecycle.
5. Ensure timely and economical execution of the project and its sub-projects during the all the phases of the development lifecycle from planning to deployment.
The major obligations and activities of project sponsor are
1. Negotiate funding for the software project and be a spokesperson to the senior management during the initial planning and design phases and during the project build phase.
2. Participate in initial project planning and design phase, including developing the project outline and the project scope.
3. Negotiate with stakeholders to gain consensus when differences of opinion take place during any phase of the development lifecycle.
4. Evaluate the project’s success on completion. Based on multidimensional quantitative and qualitative metrics. It includes the gross annual benefits to the business.
5. Review the decisive changes to the project environment, including streamlining schedules, pruning project priorities, pruning project tasks, etc.
