Organization officials have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure that the workplace is free from unnecessary hazards. Employers hold responsibility for understanding what is necessary to keep workers safe from harm. Conditions surrounding the workplace must be secure for employee’s physical and mental health. As many organizations have implemented wellness program, that focus on smoking cessation, weight control, stress management, early diagnosis of health problems, prevention and education about life-style related and contagious illness. Wellness program can cut Employers health cost and lower absenteeism by preventing health related problems.

HR plays an important and pro-active role in offering Healthy and safe work environment to the workers. The role of HR is spread across the following activities - administering, communicating, and championing the safety policies. HR will have to develop policies that are needed to be set up for safe occupational environment.
OSHA actively helps and supports employers in creating a safer workplace. OSHA regularly launches safety campaigns and it recently had launched "safe and sound campaign". Under this OSHA had called employers to review their safety and health programs to protect workers, and reduce workplace injuries and deaths. OSHA helps employers with regards to improving its management leadership, its worker's participation and developing a systematic 'find and fix' approach towards developing a healthy and safe work environment.
Discuss the purpose and significance of Wellness Programs/Disease Management in the Organization. Support your answer with the example of two companies that provide these programs to their workers.
The wellness programs and disease management program have been increasingly important for any organisation which tends to hold sustainable position in the market . These programs ensure that an organisations long term existence is not threatened by the prevalence of any pandemic or epidemic like situation which threatens an organisations work force physical well being .
Instances of two organizations that give these projects to their laborers are 'Google' and 'The Motley Fool'. Google gives offices like nearby social insurance administrations, practice classes for representatives, network bicycles, and free section to wellness focuses. The Motley Fool gives free turning classes and wellness training camps to workers.
Another example is the IT organisations which undertake physical fitness and mental fitness programs such as adventure outings and Yoga camps to ensure that in case of any unpredictable situation the employees are physically fit and immune to handle the situation and overcome it . They also have the provision for work from home so that organisations like these do'not have a hampered working .Such organisations which have recently provided this provision of Work From Home in the recent COVID-19 outbreak are Microsoft , BCG , Infosys and several other IT organisations . They also have provision to provide online counselling for their employees because pandemics like these can cause considerable mental stress for their employees .
