based on the management of coronary vascular disorders discuss the following points in your own words.
1. why females are more prone to cardiovascular disorder after the menopausal age?
2. do you think chest pain of MI is more in severity than in angina and why?
1. Menopause in women increases their risk of cardiovascular diseases. Post menopause the levels of estrogen in blood decreases. Estrogen helps maintain the flexibility of blood vessels and also play a role in metabolism of lipids. Lack of estrogen causes arteries to become stiff and more prone to plaque formation leading to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis reduces the blood supply to heart and increases risk for cardiovascular diseases.
2. Angina and myocardial infarction pain are both characterised by pain in the chest region radiating to arms, jaw and neck. But myocardial infarction pain is more severe than angina. Angina pain occurs due to lack of oxygen supply to heart muscles caused by blocked arteries which is known as ischemia. In myocardial infarction the heart muscles undergoes damage and death due to lack of oxygen supply which is known as infarction. The dead and damage muscles of heart is the reason for severity of chest pain in myocardial infarction.
