Why is it important to define each team member's role and responsibility? Should all team members be involved in all project activities, meetings, and discussions?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ways in which you develop a team and set an objective/mission:

  • Explain the objective/mission clearly to all the team members.
  • Ensure that all the team members are working toward fulfilling the objective.
  • Make sure there is open communication between the manager and the team members.
  • Build good rapport between the team members by encouraging positive interaction.
  • Maintain transparency in the flow of information between the team members.

How and why you would develop a team and what would you do at the conclusion of the mission?

A team should be developed to complete a specific mission with the contribution of all the members, therefore making it easier to fulfill it successfully. The following are important in this process:

  • Develop a team by gathering employees who are sincere and have the skills you are looking for.
  • Build the team with sufficient members so that each member is allotted the specified duties.
  • Motivate the members to do their best in attaining the objective.
  • Reward the team members once the mission is concluded successfully so that they feel recognized and motivated to perform better.

Why is it important to define each team member's role and responsibility?

  • To separate the tasks in order to complete them faster
  • To assign responsibilities to members based on their skills and experience
  • To avoid confusion in the execution of a project by knowing who is assigned with which task
  • To assess the performance of team members based on their ability to fulfill their roles and responsibilities
  • To avoid a clash between different team members on the duties they are supposed to undertake
  • To track the progress of the mission at every stage whenever a certain member has completed the assigned task

Should all team members be involved in all project activities, meetings, and discussions?

This depends on the involvement of the team members at different stages. If a meeting or discussion involves making a decision that affects all the team members, then the entire team should be present in the meeting. But, if the discussion is specific to a certain task, then only those members that are involved or assigned with that task should be present. It is important to not bombard the team members with unnecessary information. For example, team members who are assigned the task of authoring articles do not have to be present in meetings intended for graphic designers working on the magazine cover.
