Choose either microtubules and microfilaments, and then explain the
roles of at least 5 cellular proteins that interact with that
cytoskeletal element to modify how those elements function in the
cell (as opposed to their in vitro behaviors).
Microfilaments are also called as actin filaments which forms a part of cytoskeleton of the eukaryotic cell along with the microtubules. The main functions of microfilaments are they take part in cytokinesis, amoeboid movement of cell, change in cell shape, cell motility etc. Besides it provide proper structure to cell and connects each part of the cell.
1. Microfilaments interacts with the myosin protein and take part in the cell motility of non muscle cells.
2. Microfilaments also interact with the cellular protein spectrin which helps in integrity of plasma membrane and maintainance of cytoskeleton.
3. Microfilaments also assist with lamins to provide structural function of the cell and controls cell mechanics
4. Filament end tracking proteins like formins, VASP associated with microfilaments which also contributes to cell structure.
5. Allograft inflammatory factor associates with microfilaments which is specific calcium binding protein.
