Manage toileting accident in a child in a manner that protect the child self esteem and privacy. :-
First of all let me tell why the this type of accident can occurs:-
-because of weather condition.
-because of access to toilet and potties.
-because of child age maturity such as whether they understand body sign for need of toileting.
-because of ability to undress in time to make it into the toilet.
-because of any kind of illness or the medical conditions.
Managing Self esteem and privacy :-
-when a child forget or simply wet or dirt their panties remember to be calm and reassuring. Verbally ensure the child and assist the child to sit on the toilet to ensure they have the opportunity to completely empty their bowel. Or bladder.
-Child who have toileting accident will feel bad and it can lower the child self esteem lower if we had not handled it properly.
-tell the child that it's OK and ask him/her that I can help you in changing if you want.
-we allow the child to do as many tasks to do in the cleaning up as possible.
- encourage the child to do all that he can do independently.
-assure him or her that it's not too big problem you had the courage to handle it .
-wrap the soiled clothes in a plastic bag and send for washing.
-encourage the child to clean dry perineum and offer clean dress and also encourage to rejoin the activity what ever he or she was doing such as playing.
- if the child say that he or she can do by herself or himself and need privacy than provide privacy to the child.
-never let the child feel bad or never punish the child for their failure.
-if the child got success in cleaning and changing clothes then praise the child (for a 2 year or 2 and half year old child you can clap or cheer also to encourage him or her)
