There are many types of gastro intestinal problems in humans like

  • constipation,
  • irritable bowel syndrome,
  • hemorrhoids,
  • anal fissures,
  • anal fistulas,
  • diverticular diseases,
  • colitis,
  • colon polips,
  • cancer.

Most of the Gastro Intestinal problems can be prevented with the help of maintain a good healthy lifestyle, practicing a good bowel habits and periodic cancer screening tests.

The Gastro Intestinal disorders can be divided in to Two

  1. Functional gastro intestinal disorders
  2. Structural Gastro intestinal disorders

Functional gastrointestinal disorders

In this the gastrointestinal tract looks normal but it doesn't work properly. Examples are constipation and Irritable bowel syndrome

The factors are;

  • eating low fiber diet
  • lack of exercise
  • change in routine and traveling
  • taking large quantity of milk products.
  • stress
  • resisting the urge to have bowel movement due to pain from hemorrhoids
  • taking antacids medicines contain calcium or alumnium
  • taking medicines like iron pills, antidepressants, narcotics etc
  • pregnancy

Structural gastrointestinal disorders

In this disorders the bowel looks abnormal and it does't work properly. Some times it need surgical treatment to solve the problem. The examples are hemorrhoids, diverticular diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer etc.

The factors are;

  • muscle dysfunction
  • rupture or perforation
  • poor blood circulation
  • bacterial infection
  • viral infections
  • Giving excessive pressure given during a bowel movement

PREVENTION OF GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS

  • Maintain healthy lifestyle.
  • Practice good bowel habits
  • Periodical cancer screening etc.

OTHER FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS

  • food allergies and food intolerance
