The innate immunity of the human body is activated by recognizing molecules which are unique to microorganisms that are not associated with human cells called pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). PAMPs bind to Pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) on defense cells to trigger the production of inflammatory cytokines.

MyD88, RAS, SYK are the intracellular receptors that can transfer signals of the gene activation to the nucleus and bind pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) to mannose rich structure. The mannose rich structure is found in bacterial cell wall, thus these PRRs help in activating immune response against bacteria.

The class of pathogens can escape mannose rich cell wall is Virus. This is because the virus capsid is the protein shell of a virus which encloses the genetic material. Some of the TLRs (Toll Like receptors) are recognizes the foreign DNA or RNA and initiates the immune response.
